TiliconVeli started with a simple belief: talented young people should not have to leave their hometowns, families and communities to build a meaningful technology career.
Bring the jobs to where the people are
For decades, India’s technology growth was concentrated in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. A graduate from a smaller town who wanted a tech career had one practical choice: move away.
Tirunelveli has never lacked talent. It has colleges, engineering graduates, ambitious young people and families that value education. What it lacked was enough high-quality technology employment. So instead of moving people to the jobs, we set out to bring the jobs to the people.
One job changes more than one life
When a young professional finds a good job near home, a son or daughter stays close to ageing parents. A young mother builds a career with her family’s support nearby. Salaries are spent at local shops, schools, restaurants and transport services. Talent, income and ambition stay in the community.
From brain drain to brain gain
Technology makes geography less and less relevant. An engineer in Tirunelveli can build products for customers anywhere in the world. Our goal is to turn Tirunelveli from a place companies recruit talent away from into a place companies come to find it.
An ecosystem, not just a building
Jobs last when there is an ecosystem around them. Companies need talent. Young professionals need mentors and career paths. Entrepreneurs need neighbours, customers and investors. How we got here
- 2000s
TechFetch begins running its global back office from Tirunelveli. Twenty years later, it still does.
- 2016
TiliconVeli Tech Park opens near Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli.
- 2017
An AI Lab opens at the park, and global Tamil entrepreneurs and executives meet here with the District Collector.
- 2019
The park hosts a job fair for graduates from across the region.
- 2022
3i Infotech opens its global Oracle Centre of Excellence at the campus.
- Today
12 companies and about 800 jobs, with room to grow.

When we look at the jobs created here, we don’t see a statistic. We see families able to stay together, and young engineers discovering that a global career doesn’t require leaving Tirunelveli.
